New video shows impact of King Tides on the South Coast Region

This video slideshow highlights images taken by citizen scientists for the Urban Tides Community Science Initiative managed by USC Sea Grant. Urban Tides is a community based science effort to document current tidal lines, erosion, and coastal flooding in Southern California. More than 50 Urban Tides volunteers headed to their local beaches from Santa Barbara to the Tijuana Estuary to photograph king tides on Nov 14. The images offer a glimpse of what flooding due to future sea level rise will look like in our beach communities. More than 250 photo records were contributed! Scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and the U.S. Geological Survey are partners in this effort. Get involved!
