Pala Band of Mission Indians’ Solar-Powered Projects Highlighted in Department of Energy Article

The Pala Band of Mission Indians, a partner of the Climate Science Alliance, has completed the first of two renewable energy projects supported in part by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs. Their solar-powered fire station project has been featured in a recent blog post from the DOE.

“It’s been terrific,” said Shasta Gaughen, Environmental Director of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. “[The solar array has] been up and running for more than a year now. We’re already started saving money on utility bills, and keeping greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere has been the biggest bonus.”

The Alliance extends its congratulations to the Pala Band of Mission Indians in this huge step towards their goal of running 100% on renewables.
